Happy Mother's Day!

Mom and I on my wedding day
Happy Mother's Day to my beautiful Mom, who showed me everyday, unconditional love and encouragement. I hope that I can be the mom to my children that my mom is to me. I Love you, Mom.

Nicholas is Five

My little boy is five years old. Nicholas was born on Friday, May 11, 2007 and we brought him home on Mother's Day. He was this tiny, little person, completely dependent on Blair and I for everything. He taught me about unconditional love, when I wasn't sure I could give it and he's the little bit of sunshine in my world, even on a cloudy day. I can't believe that Nicholas has been in our lives for five years.
Nicholas is growing into a strong, confident, curious, independent little boy, who shows me everyday the wonder in the world. I love seeing the world through his eyes.

Happy Birthday, my dear little boy. Thank you for showing me the world through your eyes. I love you.

XOXO,
Mommy

Emily at Six Months

Emily has reached the milestone birthday of six months. In these past months, I've watched her grow bigger and stronger and reach developmental milestones. Now, she can roll from back to front, but gets stuck on the way back. She chats and I swear that she says "Da-Da, or maybe it's "Na-Na", so either she's calling her Daddy, or she's singing the song "Good-bye" (Na-Na-Na-Na, Na-Na-Na-Na, hey, hey, hey, good-bye).
Emily can smile, but uses her discretion and smiles only when and to whom she wants to. Most of those smiles go to her brother and sister, who love her to bits and compete for her attention, and her Daddy. She has been a breast-fed baby from day 1, but this week will experience baby's first cereal. I anticipate many funny faces as she navigates the world of solid food. I will post more about that later....

Until then, I'll leave you with these pictures of my beauty, my baby girl, who fills my heart with love each time I look at her. I love you, Emmy, my sweet baby girl. XOXO

My sister and her son, Noah surprised my parents by coming down for an Easter weekend visit. It was a great opportunity to have all five Perry cousins together on Easter Sunday for an egg hunt and hot dog lunch at Grandma and Papa's house. It was a great day!

Emily at 5 months

Emily turned five months old on Saturday, April 7th. I know that I say it in every post about her, but I really cannot believe how much she has grown and how fast the time goes by. Next month, she'll be six months old....half way to her first birthday and she'll be starting "solid" food. But, I'm getting ahead of myself. Right now, she is still this little baby, dependent on me to feed her and help her grow. She is spending her first month in her own room, in what I call her "Little-big girl" bed, or her crib. She outgrew the bassinet so quickly and now we've passed it on to Blair's brother and his wife as they await the arrival of their first little one. Emily also outgrew her baby swing and the little bouncy chair. :( While I am glad that we could pass them on to family, and our new little nephew will sleep and play in things that my own little ones did, giving those things away was solidifying the fact that Emily is our last little baby. I want to enjoy every second of her day and sometimes late nights because, before I know it, she will be running around and growing up.
Emily hasn't yet mastered rolling over, but she has mastered the "raspberry". If you look closely at the picture, you can see that she actually has a beard of bubbles. She is the cutest thing and looking at her, makes my heart skip a beat.

Five months ago, Emily, you came into the world and it became a little brighter. I Love you, my little love.

Nicholas

I love the way Nicholas' mind works and how he thinks and processes things. I don't know if its like this for all "almost 5 year olds", I can only speak for Nicholas. I am intrigued and amazed at the things he says and the way he thinks.

He likes to tell us stories about when he was born, very detailed stories about being a newborn. He'll say that he really wanted to come out of my belly so that he could meet everyone. Now, logic tells me that he's just got an active imagination, but another part of me wonders if he does remember something. When he was a newborn, Nicholas used to lay on the bed and look up at the ceiling and smile. We always said that he was smiling at the angels. Nicholas also talks about how he used to talk to Papa King and that Papa would laugh at his jokes. Papa King passed away the year before Nicholas was born....they never met.

In October 2010, I had a miscarriage and Nicholas named the baby, "Frank" and was sure that it was a boy. Nicholas talked a lot about Baby Frank after the miscarriage, how he was sick and went to Heaven and that Papa King was with him, taking care of him. He hasn't talked a lot about Baby Frank, but lately, he's been telling his friends at daycare about the baby brother he had that died and went to live in Heaven with Papa King.

I'd love to know where these thoughts come from, but everyday I am fascinated by the way his mind works. The things that he tells me and the way he talks, I sometimes forget that he's not quite five years old. Nicholas is a bright and confident little boy, who is full of wonder and curiosity and everyday he amazes me a little bit more. Proud Mama moment over.
